Discussing your tattoo idea: help us understand your wishes
A useful tattoo conversation does not require a perfectly finished plan. It starts with enough information to understand each other. A few considered details make that easier for you and your artist.

Describe the idea in your own words
Start with what you would like and why it appeals to you. It might be a personal story, or simply a subject or style you love. You do not need artistic terminology.
If you are still exploring, say so. Explain which decisions are settled and where you would appreciate guidance. For example, you may know the subject but still be deciding on the style and placement.
Bring these five things
A short description of your idea. A rough placement on your body. An approximate size in centimetres. A few references with an explanation. And, if you have one, a preferred artist or tattoo style.
These are starting points rather than requirements. If you have no references or do not know the size yet, you can still get in touch. Saying that you would like help with a decision is more useful than inventing an answer because you think you must.
Share practical preferences early
A budget, preferred period or plans for several sessions can influence the approach. Mention them early so the conversation can cover what is feasible. Availability and a price proposal are worked out around the actual project.
Let us know if you would like to include existing tattoos in the design. Discuss the best way to show them. Share only the photographs and information needed for your question; a first message does not need to be a complete personal record.
Leave with a clear next step
Ask what happens after the conversation. Who will take the idea forward? Is any information missing? How will the design, price and a possible appointment be discussed? This helps you know what to expect.
